(CNN) — Since Australia passed its ban on social media for teens younger than 16, a wave of legislative proposals in other countries have sought to establish similar limits on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitch, YouTube and more. The goal is clear — to shelter young people from long scrolling sessions, online predators and digital bullies.
A US ban has been proposed although many of the social media companies that would be targeted by such a restriction call the United States home. Meanwhile, many of these companies face lawsuits in the US over allegations that their platforms are addictive, including a blockbuster trial currently in court over the safety of Meta’s products.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other tech leaders, including Bill Gates and Peter Thiel, have long expressed reluctance to allowing their own children much screen time.
As CNN covers this topic across the world, we are curious about what parents who work in tech do for their own children on social media? And screens more broadly. If you’d be willing to share your experience with a CNN reporter for possible inclusion in an upcoming story, we’d like to hear from you below.
