Madimba’s 28 lead Prairie View A&M past Alcorn State 72-51

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) — Joey Madimba scored 28 points as Prairie View A&M beat Alcorn State 72-51 on Saturday.

Madimba shot 12 for 20, including 3 for 9 from beyond the arc for the Panthers (13-17, 8-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Dontae Horne added 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and three blocks while going 7 of 18 from the floor, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and 1 for 3 from the free-throw line. Lance Williams shot 3 of 8 from the field and 5 for 6 from the foul line to finish with 11 points, while adding six rebounds.

Omari Hamilton finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for the Braves (7-21, 6-10). Jameel Morris added 11 points for Alcorn State. Tycen McDaniels finished with seven points.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
