Lundblade makes 5 of Belmont’s 21 3-pointers in 98-64 win over Evansville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tyler Lundblade scored 15 points and made five of Belmont’s 21 3-pointers in a 98-64 win over Evansville on Wednesday night.

Eoin Dillon sank Belmont’s 21st 3-pointer with 46.3 seconds left to set the program’s single-game record.

Evansville made just 26 field goals.

Lundblade went 5 of 10 from the field (5 for 9 from 3-point range) for the Bruins (26-4, 16-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Sam Orme scored 14 points while going 5 of 5 (4 for 4 from 3-point range). Dillon finished 4 of 7 from 3-point range to score 12 points.

AJ Casey finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Purple Aces (6-23, 2-16). Leif Moeller added 11 points for Evansville. Alex Hemenway also had 10 points.

Belmont took the lead for good with 19:45 remaining in the first half. The score was 44-29 at halftime, with Orme racking up 11 points. Lundblade led the way with a team-high nine second-half points.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
