Hadnot’s 17 help Purdue Fort Wayne defeat IU Indianapolis 87-81

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Corey Hadnot II scored 17 points and Purdue Fort Wayne beat IU Indianapolis 87-81 in a regular-season finale on Saturday.

Hadnot shot 7 of 13 from the field and 3 of 3 from the free-throw line for the Mastodons (17-14, 11-9 Horizon League). Mikale Stevenson scored 14 points and added five rebounds and three steals. Maximus Nelson shot 3 of 9 from the field, including 2 for 8 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 6 from the line to finish with 13 points, while adding nine rebounds.

Maguire Mitchell led the way for the Jaguars (7-24, 3-17) with 20 points and two steals. IU Indianapolis also got 18 points from Micah Davis. Aiden Miller also had 13 points. The Jaguars extended their losing streak to six straight.

The league tournament begins Monday.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
