Listen to the latest weather forecast on WTOP every 10 minutes on the 8s. Scattered heavy showers and storms moving through the D.C. area brought nearly an inch of rain to areas in the DMV on Sunday. A cold front will increase rain chances up to another inch after sunset, and it’s possible we could see some flooding and high winds. Stronger storms are more likely across southern Maryland and east of Fredericksburg.
- Flooding and small hail are still possible, though the chances are low and the Flood Alert has been lifted.

The National Service said Special Marine Warnings may be issued through this evening for strong thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts of 35 knots or greater. Clouds are expected to part sometime late Sunday evening, but the National Weather Service said scattered storms may still pop up along and east of Interstate 95 with strong winds and the possibility of flooding. Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-40s on Sunday evening. Monday looks to remain cool for this time of year, with highs between 53-63 degrees in most areas. It will be breezy with gusts reaching nearly 30 miles per hour and some isolated showers are expected for the afternoon. Chances for isolated showers will remain in the forecast through the first half of the work week. “Localized flooding remains a possibility, especially in urban areas,” NWS forecasted.
