The D.C. region will likely be dealing with scattered rain and thunderstorms during the day Sunday, but those hoping to catch a fireworks display are in luck, as evening conditions look clearer. Storm Team4 meteorologist Somara Theodore said after the sun goes down, the rain chances will decrease. However, she said, there is still the chance for a stray rain shower during Sunday night’s fireworks.

Theodore said another heat wave will arrive in the D.C. region Monday and last for three or four days, with temperatures expected to reach the 90s. It will be a sunny start to the week, but rain chances do increase Wednesday night.

Sunday night: Chance for showers before sunset. Lows in the mid to upper 60s. Monday: Sunny and warm. Highs around 90. Tuesday: Sunny and hot. Highs in the lows 90s. Wednesday: Sunny and hot. Chance for afternoon storms. Highs in the low 90s. Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Chance for showers. Highs: 80s.
