A risk of flooding followed a turbulent and stormy night in Maryland that included several tornado warnings in parts of Frederick, Carroll and Baltimore counties. Here’s what you need to know. The tornado warnings have since expired but a flood warning is in effect in Frederick County until 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. Residents of parts of Libertytown and Linganore in Frederick County and Westminster and Hampstead in Carroll County were told to take cover as a tornadic storm swept the area.

The National Weather Service reported trees and wires down throughout Maryland state Route 26 and Old Annapolis Road in Libertytown. Meteorologists had warned that the storms could produced damaging winds and large hail. Earlier Monday, a tornado warning was issued in Loudoun County, Virginia; Jefferson County, West Virginia; and Washington County, Maryland. The extent of the damage was still unclear, but WFMD radio reported there was damage to a home in Ranson, West Virginia.
