DEL CITY, Okla. (KOCO) — A woman was arrested and accused of animal cruelty after police found more than two dozen animals in an unopened business in Del City.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police responded to a report that a tenant was possibly hoarding animals inside an unopened business on Southeast 29th Street near South Sunnylane Road. Once inside, officers found approximately 15 dogs, nine cats, and one bearded dragon.
The affidavit states that there was no food or water inside any of the cages or bowls, and the dogs and cats appeared to be malnourished. Air conditioning also was not working, causing the inside of the business to be 93 degrees.
One of the dogs was found seizing uncontrollably, requiring medical attention before being euthanized, according to the affidavit.
Oklahoma City Animal Control conducted an animal cruelty exam on some of the animals and determined they were in poor health due to neglect.
KOCO 5 has not released the suspect’s name because formal charges have not been filed.
