BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WLWT) — Beavercreek City Council has officially recognized the beaver as a historic symbol of the community.
The move comes as Beaver’s Mini Mart faces a trademark lawsuit from convenience store giant Buc-ee’s, which filed the suit after the local business allegedly sought a federal trademark for the name “Beaver Mart.”
City leaders say the new resolution is not about that legal fight.
They point to the beaver’s long connection to Beavercreek’s history, geography and community identity dating back to its earliest settlement in 1803.
The resolution supports the use of beaver imagery by local schools, businesses, community groups, and in public spaces.
