Anne Hathaway stars as Verity Crawford and Josh Hartnett as Jeremy Crawford in ‘Verity.’ (Alisha Wetherill)

The official trailer for Verity is here.

Amazon MGM Studios has released a new trailer for its upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller.

Anne Hathaway stars alongside Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett in the movie, which finds Hathaway also producing and Johnson executive producing.

The film follows author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), “a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity,” according to its official synopsis. “After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession.”

The new trailer finds Johnson’s Lowen approached by Hartnett’s Jeremy to finish writing Verity’s final novel.

“Her fans know her voice. They would know it’s not her,” Lowen says.

Later in the trailer, Lowen finds a draft of Verity’s autobiography.

“A writer’s words should be honest, and bloody, and a little bit terrifying,” Hathaway’s Verity says in a voice-over.

Michael Showalter directed the film from a screenplay by Nick Antosca, which was produced by Hoover.

Verity arrives in theaters on Oct. 2.

Fast-growing Hawk Fire forces evacuations in Reno, Nevada governor declares emergency

(CNN) — A fast-growing brush fire forced residents of northwestern Reno from their homes Saturday night and prompted Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo to declare a state of emergency in Washoe County. The Hawk Fire ballooned to cover more than 10,500 acres by late Saturday, with no containment reported, according to state fire officials. Its cause remains undetermined.“This is an active and rapidly evolving situation, and I urge everyone in the affected areas to remain vigilant,” Lombardo wrote on X. He urged those who were asked to evacuate to do so immediately.Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve said “structures have already been burned in this fire and your life is more important than a building,” in a message posted by the City of Reno on X.The fire could be seen rapidly advancing on a downwards slope toward illuminated neighborhoods of Reno late Saturday, before gradually fading from view, according to a time-lapse video from an Alert California camera operated by UC San Diego. Some 400 firefighters have been battling the blaze, aided by helicopters flying overnight, officials said, but high winds had complicated efforts to contain it. The blaze had grown rapidly through the day, driven by gusty winds, low humidity and dry brush.Evacuation orders widened at night, reaching the Somersett neighborhood and areas to the north. Early Saturday evening, residents of about 1,000 homes were instructed by officials to get ready to evacuate, but a fire map shared by authorities showed a number of residential areas were now under “go now” orders.Lombardo directed state agencies to coordinate through Nevada’s emergency operations center.CNN has reached out to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for details.The-CNN-Wire™ & © 2026 Cable News Network, Inc., a Warner Bros.
