Westbound I-68 reopens after crash pileup involving about 25 vehicles

A crash that closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 68 near Frostburg, Maryland, involved about 25 vehicles Sunday afternoon.

The lanes were closed for about four hours, reopening just before 5 p.m.

The first crash happened near mile marker 29 just after 12:30 p.m., according to Maryland State Police. All of the subsequent crashes happened within a mile stretch of the interstate.

Motorists were driving too fast in heavy fog and on wet roads, a Maryland State Police spokesperson told WTOP.

Multiple people were taken to a hospital.
