WASHINGTON: An EMT with the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department in Calvert County, Maryland, died while performing her duties as a first responder, Saturday morning. The North Beach Volunteer Fire Department announced the death of Rescue Captain Patricia “Pat” Osburn. Osburn experienced what’s being called “a medical emergency” while performing her duties as an Emergency Medical Technician. She was transported to the Calvert Health Medical Center where she was unresponsive. Resuscitative efforts were initiated but Osburn was pronounced dead at 6:49 a.m. No further details were released as to the cause of death. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan paid tribute to Captain Osburn on Twitter.

Osburn joined the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department on Oct. 31, 1999 and served 18 years with the department, according to the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Osburn’s dedication to the department earned her many awards including Top EMS Runner for several years as well as numerous recognitions for saving lives.
