Creel throws 4 of 5 TD passes to Williams as Jacksonville State beats Eastern Kentucky 49-7

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Caden Creel threw four of his five touchdown passes to Jamill Williams to lead Jacksonville State to a 49-7 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday night.

Creel completed 21 of 28 passes for 327 yards and Williams made seven catches for 144 yards. Jalen Likely added 73 yards rushing on five carries for Jacksonville State (1-1).

The Gamecocks built a 35-7 halftime lead. Creel connected with Williams three times for touchdowns, Caleb Nix scored on a 43-yard interception return and Likely broke loose on a 45-yard TD run. Creel completed 12 of 16 passes for 174 yards in the first half and Williams made five catches for 109 yards.

Brady Hensley ran for a 72-yard touchdown for Eastern Kentucky (0-2). Tyler Travers completed 12 of 19 passes for 90 yards and threw two interceptions for the Colonels.

The Gamecocks had 526 yards of offense and were 9 of 11 on third-down conversions.

Rutherford throws for 140 yards and scores 2 TDs, Stephen F. Austin defeats East Texas A&M 44-7

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Gavin Rutherford rushed for two touchdowns and threw for 140 yards, Jaylen Jenkins also ran for a score, and Stephen F. Austin took down East Texas A&M 44-7 on Saturday night. The Lumberjacks (2-0, 2-0 Southland), ranked 13th in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, won their sixth straight home opener and 12th straight game since an 0-2 start in 2025. After going three-and-out on their first drive, the Lumberjacks scored on their next three drives to take a 21-7 lead. They took advantage of an interception at the opposing 5-yard line, adding three more points before heading to the locker rooms. Jenkins broke free for a 40-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter that extended the lead further, and the Lumberjacks got one more field goal before the end of the game.
