Two men were arrested Sunday and two others were still at large — including one possibly in a Spiderman costume — after a police pursuit involving a stolen BMW stretched from Fairfax County, Virginia, into Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Police also said they found multiple guns in the car.
Terrell Talley, 21, and Marquette Staton, 18, both of Alexandria, Virginia, are facing multiple charges.
Police in Fairfax County said officers there were alerted to the stolen BMW around 5:20 p.m. Sunday thanks to a license-plate reader. The car had been been reported stolen out of District Heights, Maryland, in an armed carjacking earlier this month.
When officers attempted to pull the BMW over in the 7500 block of Richmond Highway, police said the driver drove away, intentionally striking multiple police cruisers.
That touched off a pursuit that led to Prince George’s County, Maryland, and ended on the Outer Loop of the Beltway prior to Branch Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. Police said the four people in the car bailed out and tried to flee on foot.
Talley and Staton were arrested a short time later. Police said the two others got away, including one who may have been in a Spiderman costume.
Staton has been charged with the initial carjacking of BMW in District Heights as well as firearms offense. Talley has been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and firearms offenses.
Both are in the custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
Police in Fairfax County said additional charges are forthcoming in that jurisdiction.
In an update provided Sunday night, Fairfax County police initially said three people were arrested after the pursuit.
