WASHINGTON — Expect delays getting in or out of Union Station in D.C. if you’re using MARC. Some trains have been canceled and there are delays following an Amtrak signal issue north of Union Station. Shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, trains entering Union Station from the Camden or Brunswick Lines were halted and Penn Line service was limited to one track. MTA said Amtrak had restored service to D.C. a short while later. The Camden and Brunswick lines appear to be the hardest hit. Check the MTA website for train advisories.
Washington Manassas Airport cleared to offer commercial airline flights
By Mike Murillo
Washington Manassas Airport, formerly known as Manassas Regional Airport, has taken a big step toward its goal of offering passenger service.
The airport, which is owned by the city of Manassas, Virginia, received its FAA Part 139 Airport Operating Certificate, a designation required before commercial airlines can begin service.
During a ceremony Monday, FAA Associate Administrator Dan Edwards presented a framed version of the certificate to airport leaders.
Edwards said it's "extremely rare" for an existing airport that caters to private flights to clear this hurdle.
