John Hunter Nemechek out at Legacy Motor Club after NASCAR Cup season

STATESVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Legacy Motor Club is parting ways with driver John Hunter Nemechek after the NASCAR Cup Series season.

No reason was given for the decision.

“We are grateful for John Hunter’s contributions to Legacy Motor Club and appreciate his professionalism and commitment to the organization throughout his time with the team,” the team said Wednesday in a statement.

Nemechek was 27th in the regular-season Cup point standings and did not make the Chase for the playoffs. In 26 races, he has one top-5 and two top-10 finishes. He had eight top-10 finishes in 2025.

The team said it remains focused on finishing the 2026 season. It’s unclear at this point who’ll fill Nemechek’s role with the team.

Schlittler sharp, the Yankees score 5 2-out runs in the 10th in a 6-3 win over the Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Cam Schlitter gave up one run and two hits in eight superb innings, and the New York Yankees scored five two-out runs in 10th in a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night. New York loaded the bases with one out in the 10th when Jose Caballero singled, the automatic runner holding at third, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. walked against reliever Luke Murphy (0-2). Murphy got Luis Garcia Jr. to pop out, but Austin Wells stroked a two-run single to right, Cody Bellinger hit an RBI single to center, Trent Grisham hit an RBI single to left, and Ben Rice had an RBI single to right for a 6-1 lead. David Bednar (7-3) struck out three in a scoreless ninth for the win. Yankees reliever Michael Fulmer gave up a two-run homer to Moisés Ballesteros in the bottom of the 10th.
