Blyden has 15 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds, Toledo knocks off Eastern Michigan 94-75

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Leroy Blyden Jr.’s 15 points, eight assists and six rebounds helped Toledo defeat Eastern Michigan 94-75 on Saturday.

Sonny Wilson also scored 15 points, going 7 of 11 from the field for the Rockets (14-13, 8-6 Mid-American Conference). Sean Craig went 5 of 8 from the field to finish with 13 points.

Mohammad Habhab led the Eagles (10-18, 4-11) in scoring, finishing with 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Mehki added 12 points and two steals for Eastern Michigan. Mak Manciel also had eight points.

Toledo took the lead 29 seconds into the game and did not trail again. Wilson led the Rockets with nine points in the first half to help put them up 51-29 at the break. Toledo extended its lead to 60-32 during the second half, fueled by a 9-0 scoring run. Craig scored a team-high nine points in the second half.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
