Perkins scores 16 as Villanova beats Georgetown 66-51

BRYN MAWR, Pa. (AP) — Tyler Perkins had 16 points in Villanova’s 66-51 win against Georgetown on Wednesday.

Perkins added five rebounds and four steals for the Wildcats (15-4, 6-2 Big East Conference). Acaden Lewis scored 15 points and added seven rebounds. Bryce Lindsay shot 4 for 12, including 3 for 8 from beyond the arc to finish with 11 points.

Kayvaun Mulready and KJ Lewis each finished with 12 points for the Hoyas (9-10, 1-7). The loss is the sixth in a row for the Hoyas.

Villanova took the lead for good with 1:33 left in the first half. The score was 26-23 at halftime, with Perkins racking up nine points. Villanova extended its lead to 36-23 during the second half, fueled by a 10-0 scoring run. Acaden Lewis scored a team-high 10 points in the second half.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
