Howard wins 67-66 over UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Bryce Harris scored 18 points as Howard beat UNC Wilmington 67-66 on Saturday.

Harris had 11 rebounds and three steals for the Bison (9-5). Cam Gillus added 16 points while going 6 of 11 (3 for 5 from 3-point range). Cedric Taylor III went 6 of 15 from the field (2 for 6 from 3-point range) to finish with 15 points, while adding 11 rebounds and six assists.

Patrick Wessler led the Seahawks (10-2) in scoring, finishing with 13 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks. Christian May added 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists for UNC Wilmington. The loss broke the Seahawks’ nine-game winning streak.

Howard went into the half ahead of UNC Wilmington 38-27, and used a 7-0 run in the second half to build a 14-point lead at 47-33 with 15:10 left in the half before finishing off the win.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
