WASHINGTON — The general manager of a D.C. restaurant is in critical condition in an Atlanta hospital after he was robbed and shot following a wedding.
Christian Broder, the general manager of Millie’s, on Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest, was shot outside a country club where he and three other people were waiting for an Uber after a wedding they’d attended, a report from the Atlanta police said.
When a car arrived, Broder and his group walked toward it assuming it was their ride, but a man got out of the passenger’s side and robbed them at gunpoint, taking a cellphone, a purse, wallets and cash.
Broder tried to flag down another passing vehicle and get them to call 911, then went after the robber to negotiate, the police report said. The suspect turned around and shot Broder in the abdomen, the police said.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for Broder’s family; according to the campaign, “Christian is in critical condition” and has “undergone several lifesaving surgeries.” He’s still in intensive care in Atlanta, the campaign says.
Atlanta’s WSB-TV reports that Broder is in “stable but critical condition,” and that he’s 34 and is married with a 9-month-old daughter.
