With all the Election Day madness, something funny happened in the WTOP newsroom

Tuesday is Election Day with races all over the country, from the U.S. president to your local county council to the mayor of your city.

It’s also a day when poll workers take the time out of their daily schedules to count all the ballots fairly and accurately.

With all the Election Day chaos going on, something interesting happened inside the WTOP newsroom. No it wasn’t a reporter dropping a cup of coffee or an on-air anchor misreading a name. It was WTOP digital writer/editor Tadi Abedje accidently calling his fellow colleague Will Vitka “Will Smith.”

Vitka then bursted out laughing for about 10 minutes, which led to the other writers laughing.

Even though Abedje claimed that it was a slip of the tongue, he believed that eased the stress and tension of the chaotic evening.

“It was honestly a slip-up. I was supposed to say Will’s name but I called him Will Smith,” Abedje said, adding, “Oh well, what a time a be alive.”

Vitka on the other hand enjoyed that experience.

“It was totally unexpected and I just laughed. I like being called Will Vitka,” Vitka said, adding that his fellow colleague loosened up the mood. “It was awesome.”
