Jake Hall scores 27 to lead New Mexico past San Jose State 90-80

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Jake Hall had 27 points to help New Mexico defeat San Jose State 90-80 on Saturday night.

Hall went 10 of 14 from the field (7 for 9 from 3-point range) for the Lobos (18-4, 9-2 Mountain West Conference). Tomislav Buljan totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds. Deyton Albury had 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting with two 3-pointers.

Colby Garland led the way for the Spartans (6-16, 1-10) with 24 points and six assists. Jermaine Washington added 18 points and Sadraque NgaNga chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.

New Mexico took the lead with 18:34 remaining in the first half and did not trail again. Hall led the team with 16 points for a 41-35 advantage at the break. New Mexico used a 10-2 run in the second half to build a 13-point lead at 70-57 with 8:43 left in the half before finishing off the win.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
