Miami (OH) earns 93-61 win over Maine

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Evan Ipsaro’s 24 points helped Miami (OH) defeat Maine 93-61 on Saturday.

Ipsaro added three steals for the RedHawks (7-0). Eian Elmer scored 16 points and added six rebounds and three steals. Almar Atlason went 3 of 6 from the field (2 for 5 from 3-point range) to finish with 10 points. The RedHawks extended their winning streak to seven games.

Keelan Steele finished with 14 points for the Black Bears (0-11). Mekhi Gray added nine points for Maine. Caleb Crawford also had eight points and three steals. The loss is the 11th straight for the Black Bears.

Miami took the lead with 19:29 remaining in the first half and did not trail again. Ipsaro led their team in scoring with 18 points in the first half to help put them up 48-30 at the break.

The Red Hawks extended its lead to 75-40 during the second half, fueled by a 13-0 scoring run. Trey Perry scored a team-high eight points in the second half as their team closed out the win.

Hawkeyes are set to play Vanderbilt in a November women’s basketball game in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Vanderbilt and Iowa, both ranked in the top 10 late last season, will meet in a women's basketball game early next season in northwest Iowa, the schools announced Tuesday. The neutral-site game is set for Nov. 15 at the Tyson Events Center, which is 290 miles from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Vanderbilt is 4-0 all-time against the Hawkeyes. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1997. The Commodores are expected to return national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes. She averaged 27 points per game and was Southeastern Conference player of the year. Vanderbilt was ranked as high as No. 5 and finished No. 10 with a 29-5 record after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
