The New York-based company said it had net income of 38 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.32 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.02 per share.

The TV broadcasting company posted revenue of $3.99 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.79 billion.
