Alphatec: Q4 Earnings Snapshot

CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) — CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) — Alphatec Holdings Inc. (ATEC) on Tuesday reported a loss of $21.7 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Carlsbad, California-based company said it had a loss of 14 cents. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and non-recurring costs, came to 6 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 4 cents per share.

The medical equipment and supplies holding company posted revenue of $212.9 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $143.4 million, or 96 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $764.2 million.

Alphatec shares have decreased 34% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $13.93, an increase of 29% in the last 12 months.

Tropical Storm Bertha strengthens, threatening Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Bertha was getting stronger early Tuesday, threatening the Gulf Coast with heavy rain. Bertha is the second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.As of 5 a.m. EDT, it was in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico, heading northwest at 5 mph with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, up from 40 mph late Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center.Some additional strengthening is possible later today, followed by gradual weakening through the middle of the week, the Miami-based center said."A slow northwestward to west-northwestward motion is expected today followed by a turn westward by the middle part of this week," the center said. Parts of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana will also be affected and the rainfall could bring flash flooding. The system could also produce storm surge, raising waters up to 4 feet in some locations along the coast.Bertha comes weeks after the 2026 hurricane season's first named storm, Tropical Storm Arthur, which made landfall in June along the Gulf Coast of Texas.
