The St. Louis-based company said it had profit of 72 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 72 cents per share.

The distributor of water and fire protection products posted revenue of $2.06 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.08 billion.

Core & Main expects full-year revenue in the range of $7.6 billion to $7.7 billion.
