Mexican soldiers, Bolivian Carnival and other top photos from Latin America and the Caribbean

Soldiers stood guard by charred vehicles set on fire in Michoacán, Jalisco, and other states in Mexico following the death of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera. Carnival finished up in Bolivia. And in Argentina, “therians” — people who say they identify as non-human animals — gathered in a Buenos Aires park to jump and bark the day away.

Inside Obama’s presidential museum opening this month: The cost, the books and a beehive

CHICAGO (AP) — The Obama Presidential Center will open June 19 more than a decade after the former president chose his hometown of Chicago for the project. The museum displays campaign memorabilia and presidential artifacts, while its campus showcases a new community basketball court, public library and playground. The cost ballooned from the initial estimates of $350 million.
